Working simultaneously as an illustrator and artist, Gakiya exhibits in various exhibitions, art festivals and art museums. Born and raised in Okinawa, Gakiya is influenced by the remnants of American culture that prevail there. The images in his work evoke a world of post-war American horror, science fiction movies and American comics.
