Gallery Common is pleased to present Fault Lines, a group exhibition of new works by Ichi Tashiro, Minh Lan Tran, and Rose Salane. Curated by Ichi Tashiro in his first exhibition as an artist/curator, the exhibition will run from Friday 8th August – Sunday 7th September 2025.
The title Fault Lines evokes the geological fractures that reveal the earth’s inner layers and the metaphorical rifts that mark cultural, technological, and emotional terrain. Each artist engages with themes of layers, fissures, and openings, exploring what lies beneath the surface of structures—whether they appear as material forms or in response to cultural memory and the aftermath of historical events.
Ichi Tashiro is an artist whose practice centres on experimentation with materials, layering, and the interplay between additive and subtractive processes on a planar surface. Tashiro’s recent works are composed of layered, carved, and burned canvases. His transformative process turns acts of cutting and burning into gestures of healing, functioning as acts of active meditation and explorations of both the interior and exterior self. Tashiro has exhibited internationally, with recent solo shows at Gallery Common (Tokyo), Hong Kong Basel.
